Corporate Social Responsibility

Empowa’s directors are involved in youth development and training, and entrepreneurial programmes with previously disadvantaged groups. It works with the Youth Development Foundation, which provides entrepreneurial training to young people from South Africa’s black townships, and empowers them through the process of discovering, developing and deploying their potential in conjunction with a significant job component.

This involvement extends to chairmanship of the Triple Trust Organisation, which trains and develops over 20 000 previously disadvantaged people each year, as well as presidency of the YMCA World Alliance, which has extensive networks worldwide.

Empowa also endevours to utilise suppliers from previously disadvantaged communities for all its procurement requirements.
